Questions parents ask.
Honest answers from the two people who built this.
What's the difference between this and ChatGPT, Khan Academy, or YouTube?+
ChatGPT is a free-form chatbot — useful, but it has no curriculum and no opinion about what your kid should learn next. Khan Academy is excellent for the things school already covers (math, science). YouTube is YouTube. RealMind is the missing piece: a curriculum we wrote ourselves, on the things school skips, delivered through an AI teacher in a 25-minute Socratic conversation. The lesson beats are scripted — the AI's job is warmth and follow-up, not invention.
Is the AI safe for my kid? What can it say and not say?+
Every lesson is built from beats we wrote and approved. Some beats are verbatim presets (the AI reads exactly what we wrote). Others use templated AI generation inside tight constraints. None are free-roam chat. Marcus and Elena cannot wander off the curriculum, give opinions on current events, recommend specific products or stocks, or engage with prompts that try to break the lesson. If a kid pushes the AI off-topic, it brings the conversation back to the lesson.
How is this different from school?+
School is graded, group-paced, and built around the subjects of 1900. RealMind is one-on-one, self-paced, and built around things adults actually need: power, money, persuasion, clear thinking. We don't compete with school — we cover what school misses.
What ages does this actually work for?+
We list 5–18 because that's the range our parent-controlled accounts allow, but each course has a sweet spot. How Power Works is best at 12+. How Money Works works at 10+. The AI teacher adapts language and examples to whatever age you set when you create the child profile.
What if my kid hates it?+
Sign up costs nothing and never asks for a card. If they bounce off in the first session, you walk away with no charge. If you upgrade and later want out, cancel anytime from your dashboard — billing stops at the end of the current month. We don't guilt-trip cancellations and we don't hide the cancel button.
Can I see what my kid is doing? Do I get the transcript?+
Yes. After every session you see the full transcript, the comprehension score, the strongest moment of the conversation, and what to revisit. When a course finishes, you get a written assessment and a set of dinner-table questions to keep the conversation going.
What data do you collect about my kid?+
The name and age you enter for the child profile, plus the transcripts of sessions they complete. That's it. No location, no biometrics, no audio retention beyond live transcription, no behavioral advertising trackers. Full details on the Privacy page.
How long does each session take? How often should they do them?+
Each session is 25 minutes. We recommend two sessions a week. A course is 8 sessions, so a course takes about a month at that pace. Some kids do one a day for a week and then take a break — also fine.
Who built this and why should I trust them?+
RealMind is built by a small independent team operating as Chiclu LLC in San Diego. No outside investors pushing us to maximize engagement, no ad-tech, no resale of student data. Email us anytime at support@realminds.ai and you'll get a reply within a business day.
What happens after the 8 sessions in a course?+
Your kid gets a “What you now know” sheet built from their own best answers — share-worthy and adult-feeling, not gold-stars. You get a written assessment of what they demonstrated and a list of dinner-table prompts. Then they pick the next course.
